The Panov house is a cultural monument. It was built in 1810 and has kept its Revival look to this day.
The exhibition
The exhibition covers the Ottoman period and the National Revival. It shows how the crafts developed: goldsmithing, woodcarving, homespun tailoring, tailoring, goat-hair weaving, pottery, coppersmithing. The main collection holds over 6,000 exhibits, and the collection of coins and icons is rich.
Home life is shown through folk costumes and everyday objects. The women's jewellery, such as earrings, bridal wreaths, rings and ear ornaments, is richly decorated with coloured glass, mother-of-pearl and pendants.
The uprising of 1850
A large part of the exhibition tells of the uprising of 1850 with its centre in Belogradchik, one of the largest uprisings in the Bulgarian lands. The liberation of Belogradchik and the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885 are marked too.
Ancient tombstones are shown in the courtyard of the museum.
